Sugarcreek Heating & Air Awarded Garaway Schools Service Contract.
Members of the Board of Education heard from Chad Simpson, owner of Sugarcreek Heating & Air Conditioning, concerning a maintenance contract for all buildings in the Garaway District. The contract would give any calls from the district a bump to priority status and with the business location being in the district, a rapid response time, according to Simpson should be the rule as opposed to the exception.
Simpson explained that he and Tom Hostetler toured each building and met with staff concerning units in use. "We don't know what works and what doesn't at this point," he explained. "We will know that once we fire up. We took photos and will train our commercial staff on not only fixing the problems that could arise in the systems but getting them back to running efficiently."
The savings that could be had in simply having a 15-ton unit actually producing that much cooling or a boiler operating at optimum efficiency could be astronomical. "We saw the dirty coils and filters and things that need cleaned up on our visit," Simpson explained. "We see that repairs were made but going the extra mile and fixing things to get a unit back into spec condition wasn't done. We Will take care of those things as well."\
The contract will cost the district $4,525 for the year. It does not include the price of any parts needed. It will cover labor for basic repairs. It was unanimously approved by the Board. Bob Eckert noted he was pleased and believes that preventative maintenance is the key to keeping systems running as they should.
